My topic is going to be something along the lines of "The FBI is a wonderful career to pursue"
I forgot to add a period and the fact that my academy is law, so it easily knocks out government and law because the FBI is a government law enforcement bureau.
This needs to be debatable. "The FBI is a superfluous (or obsolete) organization and should be replaced by Homeland Security." (I don't agree with this; I am just throwing something out there.) Oh, and with all the news about the Secret Service, that might be a better area of research. Maybe that branch needs to be closed down and given to a different agency like the FBI or Homeland Security. THERE ARE LOTS OF OPTIONS, but it needs to be debatable. Remember "should" will help it become more debatable. :)
How necessary is the FBI, should the government focus on it more or less than they currently do?
How does piracy affect the economy and should it be allowed or should the government be more strict?
Piracy of what? Movies, music, books? Narrow this down a little. :)
Since my academy is Biomedical Sciences, I have decided to do my paper on the effects of Obama care and whether it is the best solution to make Healthcare costs affordable. It relates to the government and is a highly argumentative and debatable topic.
I have to infuse government with arts and entertainment.
"How has literature affected the systematic flow of government and politics over time?"
For whatever reason, I replied to you under third period. LOL! Check there for my response. :)
My research paper will be about how politics affect the science of psychology not only research wise, but also the mental wellbeing of the people.
Pick one or the other. You should also make it into a debatable question or topic. :)
Being from the academy of arts and entertainment, I was thinking of something along the lines of "Do the arts stimulate state economic development? Should the goverment intervene in the elimination of artistic programs in places of education?"
Too much going on here. Narrow it down to one of these items.
Eliminating arts education is having a negative impact on student achievement. (Something to that effect....)
My academy being Engineering, I visualized my topic to relate to the increase in corporate taxes on markets and jobs today.
My argument: of opportunities of firms being more/less available to the public foreign to the US.
Wow...this is interesting, but the way you word it is so confusing...and unspecific.
American companies should not be allowed to move their businesses to foreign countries to save on taxes. (Something like that....)
Academy: Biomedical Science
Topic: Should schools provide awareness against teenage pregnancy.
If so what are some ways in which they can make this happen.
So what you're saying is there should be a return to sex education in schools???? Change your wording, and I think this will be a fine topic. Make it debatable!
Academy : AOBS
My topic for my research paper will be about abortion, and the pros and cons that come with it and why is it debated so much.
Too broad, too banal. C'mon, Clara, give me something else. Think about it, and we will discuss it some more on Friday. :)
My topic is how the equality of sexes is greatly affected in the healthcare system with support of government and financial cases.
Not sure where you are going with this. Perhaps it's your wording. Let's discuss this on Friday, but at least try to rework this to be less ambiguous. :)
My topic will be about gun control in America and whether there should be a regulation on guns or if guns should be banned.
Good! Make it debatable. The government needs to adjust the Second Amendment and set stricter regulations on guns. (Something like that; it's late and my brain is fried. LOL!)
Academy of Law
My topic will be about "fair pay" among genders.
What about it? Should there be laws? Should companies pay fines? Give me more....
My topic will be how has censorship among art programs in schools affected the children of this generation?
The censoring or abolishing? I am confused. What about children has been affected? Narrow this down, and be more clear. I am a fan of this topic...but whittle it down some. :)
...and make it debatable.
The topic I have chosen to take on is political gridlock in Washington D.C. and how government officials can get the job done. My topic relates to U.S. Government, and I will try to infuse information on how political gridlock has taken a toll on the tourism industry (Academy of Hospitality & Tourism).
There is a lot going on here. Whittle this down some and make it debatable. We can discuss this some more on Friday, but come in with some possible solutions. :)
Academy of Biomedical Sciences
Ebola and the effect it has on the economy.
What about it? This has to be debatable. This might be too current and hard to research. Keep thinking. :)
Given that I take part in the Academy of Arts and Entertainment, I would like my topic to revolve around censorship in visual art.
Elaborate. Make sure it's debatable. What kind of art? Keep working! :)
How has the economic decline in the U.S. been helped by the excessive amount of money brought in by the to tourism Industry?
Turn it into something debatable. We will discuss this some more on Friday. :)
My paper is going to be on regulations the government is placing on new vehicles to make them safe for the road and why it is necessary to enforce them. (AOE)
Make this debatable. Interesting!
Academy: Biomedical Sciences
How does immigration affect the American healthcare system?
Pick a side to make it debatable....
My topic will be about how engineering and technology (My academy is AOE) has helped and assisted the CIA and FBI throughout its history.
Technology, not man, is the FBI's most effective agent. (I don't know...something like that.) Make it debatable.
Why should government keep investing on the education and research of biomedical engineering? I wan to focus in this area since it's what I want to study in a near future. (Academy of engineering).
Too broad. Narrow this down. What about biomedical engineering (that is a huge area of study)???? Be specific. See me on Friday if you need help....
How did the Mariel boatlift affected the life of the people that were involved in it? And the educational opportunities that they had when they got here
Not debatable. Narrow this down to one question. Think about this some more, and we will meet on Friday.
As a student in the academy of finance I was thinking of writing about how was the economy (stock-market etc.) affected in the U.S throughout the Progressive Era?
Not current enough, not debatable. Think about some other options, and we will meet on Friday.
How did the Nixon Watergate scandal affect the public's trust in their American Government?
Interesting.... Not sure if it's current enough. We will discuss this on Friday. :)
My academy is law , and my topic is how the people's vote counts towards the election of our government and if indeed do we need the electoral votes or should the people actually elect the president?
"The electoral vote should not decide the outcome of a presidential election; the popular vote should be the deciding factor." How is that?
Love it!! Thank you!!
My topis is Roe V. Wade. My academy is AOBS.
This is banal...and not debatable AT ALL. Let's go back to the drawing board. C'mon, think some more...get out of your comfort zone a little. See me on Friday with your new set of ideas....
I'm in the academy of engineering and my topic will be 3D printing and if further financial investment to make it more accessible would impact the economy and our society in a significant way.
3-D printing should be more accessible, as it will have a positive impact on our economy.
3-D printing should be limited, as it will eventually hinder our economy.
(Not sure of your position, but you should take one.)
I'm in the academy of engineering, so my topic will be about how we should further introduce computer programming to increase the government work efficiency
My academy: Academy of Finance
"Should the federal reserve be owned by private shareholders?"
I will argue how although the federal reserve claims it is not a private institution, 100% of its stocks are owned by private banks. This reflects our finances are controlled by businesses, an indication that there still exists monopolies today, just as they did in the post- civil war period.
LOVE IT! Well thought out!
"Should forensic psychologists continue to be funded for their input in crime scene investigations?"
(Forensics is my elective class)
Huh? Elaborate on this some more? What do you mean by funded?
Lead poisoning: should the U.S.
Sorry, hit post by accident. My topic is
"Lead poisoning: should the U.s. Stop or take affirmative action towards importing Chinese-manufactured products containing dangerous amount of lead?"
This page is intended to be a resource for our AICE Lit students. Our hope is that it will be a forum to share resources and have discourse pertaining to the research paper and our class readings!
