2018 SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENTS
This year, AICE assignments AND the school-wide assignment are BOTH required.
Be mindful of due dates. Late work is NOT accepted. (See below: "4) Submit Your Work" for details.)
* If you are going to be out of town, make sure to submit your work prior to your departure.
AICE Literature in English
1) Study your Poems & Short stories!
These poems (4) and short stories (story 1 & story 2) will be on your assessment in November.
Read them. Research them. Annotate them. Analyze them. The more YOU invest in understanding them, the more insightful your analyses will be.
Create study guides for your poems and short stories using these templates: poems & short story 1 / short story 2. You do not have to submit these over the summer; instead, you will keep them in your binder and submit them once classes resume in the fall.
2) Analyze the literature!
Write TWO essays--one on poems and one on short stories.
1) POETRY: Choose ONE of the following prompts:
2) SHORT STORIES: Choose ONE of the following prompts:

3) Get a Head Start on College Essays!
Click here for the released Common App & Coalition essay prompts, and write ONE. (If you have already written one, revise and rewrite it so that it is STRONG!)
Use some time over the summer to research schools, application requirements, and scholarships too.
4) Submit Your Work!
Your assignment due dates are staggered as follows.
All work is due on turnitin.com by the due date listed above.
Class ID: 18237522
Reminder: no late work will be accepted. Thank you!
* Note: This year, projects will be collected and graded by student's Academy teacher.
I will also require a hard copy of your school-wide summer work by the first day of school. If you choose to complete one of the creative assignments, a picture and/or link to video/website will suffice. The original should be turned in to your Academy teacher.
